Robin Roberts and her long-term partner Amber Laign have married!

On September 8, the pair married in a “magical” garden ceremony surrounded by family and friends.

The Good Morning America co-anchor initially met Laign in 2005 on a blind date set up by mutual acquaintances.

“An intimate, magical wedding ceremony in our backyard followed by a joyous reception…ohhhh the dancing!!” Roberts shared in an Instagram Sunday. “We are immensely grateful to all for making it a day and a night to remember. Honeymoon here we come!”

“Our two friends, my friend Alex, her friend Bert, finally said, ‘Enough, you two are going to meet,’” Laign told GMA previously. “I remember just walking up and she’s just beautiful, and she took my breath away, and she still does.”

Over the next 18 years, the women repeatedly demonstrated that they would always be there for one another.

Whether it was supporting their partner through the loss of a parent or celebrating victories over breast cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome.

During the pandemic, the couple explored the prospect of making their marriage aspirations a reality after over two decades together.

The pair proposed to one other over a platter of calamari at their favorite Connecticut restaurant.

“We took the calamari rings and we slapped them on each other’s fingers and we just we proposed to one another,” Roberts said.

“Now looking back, it was pretty fitting for us to not have a down on one knee [proposal] and one person doing it … it was just us hanging out in our little hole-in-the-wall Mexican spot and putting calamari rings on each other and saying, ‘Let’s go. Let’s do it.’”

Although the official proposal arrived at the end of 2022, Roberts did not reveal it until January 2023, when Gabby Bernstein, a motivational speaker and author, asked what she was a “yes for” this year.

“I’m hesitating because I haven’t said it out loud yet,” the co-anchor said.  “We’re getting married this year. It’s something we have talked about, but we had put it off. She became ill, and it is saying yes to that and that next chapter.”

“We’ve really early on learned how to become a partnership and work together and truly, truly trust one another,” Laign told GMA in the days leading up to their big day. “And to have someone by your side like that is a gift.”
